Service-specific terms for shared hosting platforms, including fair use, customer responsibilities, email, backups and security. Sections 6 (Charges and payment), 7 (Renewals and price changes), 8 (Suspension and termination) and 10 (Liability) of the Master Services Agreement apply to this Schedule.
1. Scope
1.1This Schedule applies to Shared Hosting Services supplied by Hosting UK, including cPanel, Plesk and other shared web hosting platforms.
1.2Shared Hosting Services are supplied subject to the Master Services Agreement, the Service Level Agreement, the Acceptable Use Policy and this Schedule.
1.3If there is a conflict between this Schedule and the Master Services Agreement, this Schedule shall take precedence for Shared Hosting Services only.
2. Shared hosting environment
2.1Shared Hosting Services are provided from a shared platform where multiple customers may use the same underlying server, storage, network and software environment.
2.2Hosting UK is responsible for the underlying shared hosting platform, including server hardware, network connectivity, operating system management and supported control panel management.
2.3The Customer is responsible for its websites, applications, scripts, themes, plugins, databases, passwords, content and use of the Service.
3. Customer responsibilities
3.1The Customer shall ensure that all websites and applications hosted on the Shared Hosting Service are maintained, patched and used lawfully.
3.2The Customer shall keep all content management systems, plugins, themes, extensions and customer-installed software current and secure.
3.3The Customer shall not use the Shared Hosting Service in a way that materially affects the performance, stability, security or availability of the shared platform or other customers.
4. Resource usage and fair use
4.1Shared Hosting Services are subject to fair usage requirements. Resources include CPU, memory, disk space, disk input/output, database usage, email usage, bandwidth, processes and other platform resources.
4.2Hosting UK may apply resource limits, throttling, rate limits or other technical controls to protect the platform and other customers.
4.3Where a Customer's use causes or is likely to cause degradation of the shared platform, Hosting UK may require the Customer to reduce usage, upgrade to a more suitable Service, remove problematic content or code, or suspend the affected Service.
4.4Where bandwidth or storage limits apply, Hosting UK may charge for excess usage at the applicable published rate or require the Customer to move to a more suitable package.
5. Email services
5.1Email features included with Shared Hosting are intended for ordinary business or personal use and are not suitable for bulk email, mailing list services, unsolicited email or high-volume automated sending.
5.2The Customer must not send spam, unsolicited marketing email, phishing email, malware, forged email or email that breaches the Acceptable Use Policy.
5.3Hosting UK may suspend or restrict email sending where it reasonably believes email services are being abused, compromised or used in a way that may damage platform reputation or deliverability.
6. Backups and restores
6.1The Customer is responsible for maintaining independent, current and recoverable backups of all websites, databases, files, emails and configurations.
6.2Hosting UK may take periodic platform backups for maintenance, operational or disaster recovery purposes, but such backups are not guaranteed and are not a replacement for Customer backups.
6.3Any restore assistance provided by Hosting UK is provided on a reasonable endeavours basis and may be chargeable unless expressly included in the Customer's package.
7. Security and malware
7.1The Customer is responsible for the security of its website code, applications, passwords, users and content.
7.2Hosting UK may scan, quarantine, disable, remove or suspend content that appears to be malicious, compromised, unlawful, harmful or likely to affect other customers or the platform.
7.3Remediation of compromised Customer websites, code or applications is not included unless expressly purchased as a separate service.
8. Service management
8.1Hosting UK may carry out maintenance, upgrades, patching and platform changes to maintain stability, security and performance.
8.2Hosting UK may migrate accounts between servers or platforms where reasonably required for operational, technical, security or commercial reasons.
8.3Hosting UK is not responsible for changes required to Customer websites, code or applications as a result of reasonable platform upgrades or security updates.
9. Suspension and termination
9.1Hosting UK may suspend Shared Hosting Services where the Customer breaches this Schedule, the Master Services Agreement or the Acceptable Use Policy.
9.2Hosting UK may suspend immediately where continued operation presents a risk to platform stability, security, other customers, network reputation or legal compliance.
