    Service-specific terms for backup products, managed backups, retention, restores and backup limitations. Sections 6 (Charges and payment), 7 (Renewals and price changes), 8 (Suspension and termination) and 10 (Liability) of the Master Services Agreement apply to this Schedule.

    1. Scope

    1.1This Schedule applies where the Customer purchases Backup Services or where backups are expressly included as part of a Managed Service.

    1.2This Schedule does not apply to courtesy, operational or platform backups taken by Hosting UK for its own maintenance or disaster recovery purposes.

    2. Backup services

    2.1Backup Services may include file backups, database backups, server image backups, cloud backups, managed server backups or other backup products described in the Order.

    2.2Backup coverage, frequency, retention, storage location and restore options vary by product and package.

    3. Customer responsibilities

    3.1The Customer remains responsible for determining whether the Backup Service is suitable for its business continuity, disaster recovery, regulatory and data retention requirements.

    3.2The Customer should maintain independent backups of business-critical data.

    4. Backup frequency and retention

    4.1Backup frequency and retention are as described in the Order or product description.

    4.2Backups may fail, be skipped, be incomplete, be corrupted or be unavailable for reasons including software failure, insufficient storage, configuration issues, source corruption, network issues, Customer changes or platform limitations.

    5. Unvalidated backups

    5.1Unless expressly stated otherwise, backups are automatic and unvalidated.

    5.2Hosting UK does not warrant that any backup will be complete, restorable, free from corruption or suitable for the Customer's intended purpose.

    6. Restores

    6.1Restore assistance is provided on a reasonable endeavours basis.

    6.2Hosting UK does not guarantee any recovery point objective, recovery time objective, restoration time or successful restoration unless expressly agreed in writing.

    6.3Restores may overwrite data. The Customer is responsible for confirming what data should be restored and accepting any risks of restoration.

    7. Backup exclusions

    7.1Backup Services do not include validation, testing, disaster recovery planning, application consistency checks, regulatory retention design or business continuity consultancy unless expressly agreed.

    7.2Hosting UK is not liable for loss of data, loss of business, loss of profit or consequential loss arising from backup failure or restore failure, except to the extent liability cannot lawfully be excluded.

    8. Suspension and deletion

    8.1Backup Services may be suspended or deleted for non-payment, termination of the associated Service, storage limits, abuse, security risk or breach of the Agreement.

    8.2On termination, backups may be deleted and may not be recoverable.
