I’m delighted to announce that Windows Server 2016 is now available on our cloud platform.
The latest release from Microsoft introduces a load of new features including support for the new HTTP/2 protocol in IIS 10.0 which promises to speed up web site delivery and reduce load on web servers.
Another long overdue feature is support for wildcard host headers, which means you can set up multiple sites on a single IP and have the web server deliver sites for any subdomain.
The minimum requirement for Windows Server 2016 is 1 GB of RAM and 30GB of disk although you’ll probably want a little more than that for storage of your own files and also, 1 gig of RAM is not really going to deliver a lot.
Our Cloud VMs start at £7.50 a month, plus £5.00 for any Windows operating systems, so £12.50 in total to satisfy those basic requirements.
If you’re serious about using Windows Server 2016 then I’d opt for our High Speed VPS option 3, which will give you 4 CPU cores, 4 GB of RAM and 100GB of storage and with Windows Server 2016 will cost you £35 a month, plus the usual kick back to the tax man if you’re in the EU.
We don’t have a Plesk Onyx version just yet, so if you are lusting after a fantastic control panel I’m afraid you’ll be using Windows Server 2012 R2 but we’re working on it.

Windows 2016 is big, feature rich and beautiful and personally, I’m loving the test VM I ran up a few days ago.
Enjoy 🙂
