HOSTING UK SPAM PROTECTION SYSTEM

Spam, or Unsolicited e-mail is the scourge of the internet.  It wastes your time, it clogs up your mailbox, it steals bandwidth and server resources and generally just annoys you.  Recent reports have suggested that spam now accounts for 40% of all e-mail traffic on the internet.

What to do about it has often been the subject of debate.  Some governments have even tried to pass laws against it, but the truth is, it's difficult to detect and some software that promises to block it does run the risk of deleting perfectly valid e-mail.

See the page detailing spam tests for more information on the options

For further information on SPAM go to
http://www.google.com/search?sourceid=navclient&q=spam

Rather than deleting all potential spam e-mail we perform complex checks on all e-mail passing through our mail servers against various systems which house databases of known spam types and e-mail addresses, as well as more rudimentary tests against improperly formed mail headers.

Should any e-mail fail the tests a 'X-RBL-Warning': is added to the email along with the reason for failure, for example:

X- RBL -Warning: reason for failing spam test
Creating rules in Outlook to guard against spam
With these headers written to messages that fail the tests you can use rules within your mail client or server to protect yourself from annoying spam messages.

Go to this pagetosee how you can use rules within Microsoft Outlook to deal with detected spam.
Reporting spam and helping the fight against this menace
New spam is being sent daily, and we are not able to guarantee that we will catch it all as our tests do rely on reported instances logged in the various anti-spam databases that exist on the internet, however by reporting any spam that is sent to you, you can help ensure that other instances do not go undetected.

To see how you can report spam follow the link below to pages on Google on this subject.

Note: This filtering currently protects users on Mail4 and Mail5.  We plan to roll this out to other customers soon.
